The Northeast Agricultural and Resource Economics Association (NAREA) will hold its 2012 annual meeting at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Inn and Conference Center in historic downtown Lowell, Massachusetts, June 10-June 12, 2012. NAREA will sponsor selected paper sessions, symposia, plenary talks, and workshop paper sessions. The post-conference workshop on "The Economics of Agricultural and Rural Ecosystem Services" will be held immediately following the annual meeting and will run from June 12-June 13, 2012.
The meeting will be held at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Inn and Conference Center. Birthplace of Jack Kerouac and James Whistler, home of the Lowell Spinners Minor League Baseball team, and host to a burgeoning arts community, Lowell is no longer your classic New England mill-town. Situated at the confluence of the Concord and Merrimack Rivers, Lowell is approximately twenty-five miles northwest of Boston. Located within minutes of the intersection of I-495 and I-93, the town is easily accessed by car. Lowell is served by two airports, Boston's Logan International Airport and Manchester's Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Inn and Conference Center. Room rates range from $89 to $109 per night (single occupancy) plus tax. Accomodations can be booked through the "Accomodations" meetings page. The opening reception will be held on Sunday evening (June 10th) at the Inn and Conference Center and is free for those registering for the annual meeting. The annual meeting registration fee (for registration prior to and including May 11) is $175 for members, $200 for non-members, $85 for member students and $95 for non-member students. The registration fee includes the Sunday evening reception and ticket to Monday's Awards Luncheon. The conference program will include further details once posted.
